A thousand trees, a thousand dreams.
The « 1000 Trees = 1000 Children » project is one of APLM’s proudest initiatives, created to unite environmental action in 2013 with a message of hope for future generations. In collaboration with the Scouts and with the support of the local municipality, this project aims to plant 1000 trees — each one symbolizing the growth, potential, and well-being of a child.
Beyond its symbolic meaning, the project contributes to reforestation, improves the local ecosystem, and raises awareness about the importance of sustainability among youth and the wider community. It’s a step towards a greener tomorrow, rooted in education, collaboration, and care for both people and planet.
Waste Disposal Project🗑️
Cleaning the coast, protecting the future.
The Waste Disposal Project , carried out between 2013 and 2015, is a dedicated initiative aimed at addressing the pressing issue of waste management and environmental pollution. With a focus on the Mediterranean region and other locations, our project has successfully collected and cleaned over 1500 kg of various waste materials, including bottles and plastics.
🌊 Pavillon Bleu – « The Blue Brigade »
Blue isn’t just a color, it’s a commitment.
As part of our mission to protect and preserve our beloved coastline, we launched “The Blue Brigade”—an environmental awareness campaign aligned with the international Pavillon Bleu (Blue Flag) standards.
This wasn’t just about cleaning the beach. It was about educating, engaging, and empowering the public to become active stewards of the environment.
🎯 What We Did:

📣 Held awareness sessions about marine biodiversity, pollution prevention, and the importance of sustainable tourism.
🏅 Educated the public on the Blue Flag standards and what they truly represent for a region.

🌿 Eco-Tourism for Conservation

From 2013 to 2017, the project « Development of Eco-tourism Activities for the Conservation of Key Biodiversity Sites in Northern Tunisia » set a powerful example of how sustainable tourism can go hand-in-hand with environmental protection.
This initiative focused on preserving vital biodiversity hotspots while introducing innovative eco-tourism models that benefit both nature and local communities.
The initiative made a significant impact by helping to preserve key biodiversity areas in northern Tunisia, ensuring the protection of vital ecosystems and species.
Moreover, the project fostered a culture of responsible tourism, encouraging visitors to engage in practices that support conservation efforts. Through these combined efforts, the initiative contributed to both ecological preservation and the well-being of local communities.

The « From Waste to Innovation » project aimed to raise environmental awareness and promote sustainable practices by encouraging participants to transform waste materials into innovative and artistic products in 2017. Through hands-on workshops, collaborative design sessions, and eco-focused creativity, this initiative empowered youth and communities to rethink waste — not as a problem, but as a resource full of potential.

The « Bottle Race » project was an innovative and engaging initiative that focused on repurposing plastic bottles to create boats for an exciting racing event on the beach. The project was held in 2017-2018 that aimed to raise awareness about plastic waste and promote creative solutions for recycling and reusing materials.

« A Shark Made of Waste, A Message That Lasts »
In this impactful project, we transformed discarded plastic bottles into a larger-than-life shark sculpture, capturing the attention and imagination of all who saw it. The striking design was more than just art — it was a symbolic wake-up call. The shark represented the beauty and fragility of marine life, while the very materials used to build it — plastic waste — highlighted the growing threat to ocean ecosystems.
By merging environmental activism with creativity, the project aimed to raise awareness about marine pollution, inspire conversations around sustainability, and urge communities to reflect on their plastic consumption. The installation stood as a visual metaphor: our waste is harming what we love.
Design Your Waste 🎨
« From Trash to Transformation — Youth Leading the Change »
« Design Your Waste » was a powerful cross-cultural initiative that brought together youth groups from Tunisia, Italy, and Spain with a shared goal: raising environmental awareness and inspiring action. Running from late 2017 to November 2019, the project focused on educating young people about the urgent need to protect our planet — especially our oceans — from the devastating impact of waste.
Through hands-on workshops, creative challenges, and collaborative projects, participants explored innovative ways to reduce, reuse, and rethink waste. The experience not only built environmental knowledge but also fostered leadership, cultural exchange, and a strong sense of global responsibility among the youth.

« Change Begins at Home — Educating Families, Empowering Communities »
The « No More Waste » project was implemented in two impactful stages, beginning with an awareness campaign that reached 40 families, totaling around 180 individuals. The initiative focused on promoting practical knowledge about waste management, aiming to build a culture of eco-responsibility starting within households.
By educating families about sorting, reducing, and reusing waste, the project encouraged daily habits that contribute to cleaner, more sustainable neighborhoods. This grassroots approach empowered participants to become active agents of change within their communities.
Climate Dialogues: United for Resilience 🌍
« Empowering Voices, Strengthening Futures — Together for a Climate-Resilient Tomorrow »
The « Mobilization of Civil Society to Strengthen Dialogue on Resilience to Climate Change in Morocco and Tunisia » (2019–2021) was a groundbreaking initiative focused on coastlines, water resources, and forests the key ecosystems under threat. Led by WWF-Tunisia and WWF-Morocco, and funded by l’AFD, the project created a powerful platform for cooperation and learning.
A dynamic network of 30 associations — 15 from Morocco and 15 from Tunisia, including APLM — came together to share knowledge, build capacities, and amplify the role of civil society in climate resilience.
🌊 Clean Up the Med
« One Sea, One Mission — United for a Cleaner Mediterranean! »
Every year, in alignment with efforts across the Mediterranean, APLM proudly participates in the « Clean Up the Med » campaign. Coordinated in collaboration with the Italian environmental organization Legambiente, this initiative brings together volunteers, associations, and local communities to combat pollution and raise awareness about the critical state of our seas.
🎨 Clean Rubbish, Create Art
As proud partners in the European initiative “Clean Rubbish, Create Art,” APLM participated in a transformative training course and youth exchange hosted in Turkey, alongside organizations from Italy, Spain, Romania, and France, and coordinated by the Daphne Youth Association.
Our team joined a powerful cleaning campaign on Samandağ Beach — Turkey’s longest coastline, which faces significant pollution challenges. Beyond environmental action, the project focused on upcycling waste into meaningful art, blending creativity with sustainability and encouraging youth-led change for a cleaner planet.
🥕From Ground to Plate – The Food Lab Project

APLM is proud to be part of the “Food Lab” project, co-financed by the European Union under the ERASMUS+ program for youth, running from March 2022 to March 2024.
With a strong network of international partners — including the University of Sousse (Tunisia), Salceda de Caselas Delegation and ASEMADI (Spain), UNIEL (Albania), and ASPEA (Portugal) — the project’s mission is to establish an educational farm in Maâmoura. The aim is to raise awareness among children about sustainable, pesticide-free agriculture, reconnecting young learners with the earth and inspiring future generations to value clean, healthy food systems.
